Registration Information





Admission Requirements

The classes conducted by the Department of Workforce Development are offered to all students without regard to race, color,
national origin, sex, age, or disability.

The following are the requirements for people seeking enrollment.
          • 18+ to register for courses without parental consent.
          • 17 or older – students enrolled in high school need approval from their school principals and parent/guardian to enroll
applicable – contact the Adult Education Director. *If a student is 18 but still enrolled in high school we will need
            approval from 
          • Submit a completed registration form along with full payment if course is less than $200. Otherwise, payment plans will
accepted with 25 percent payment at time of registration.

The following are requirements for people seeking to enroll in Career Development classes.
          • Have a high school diploma or GED certificate (copy of which may be requested).
                   *High school students must present an approval letter and last report card showing satisfactory grades*
          • We encourage those who need to improve basic skills to enroll in Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) classes.
          • Undergo a background check (for applicable programs)
          • Take a basic WorkKeys assessment test and attend a mandatory orientation.



Registration is complete when all required forms and documents have been completed and turned in to the Adult Education Office, along with any required payment or down payment. The completed file of each applicant will be reviewed. Applicants qualified for the program of choice will be granted admission and will be placed on the list for admission to the next available class according to the date the file is completed. Falsification of any student information submitted will be grounds for student termination.


Transfer of Credits

Maplewood Career Center Adult Education Programs/Courses cannot accept credits transferred from other program courses.
The exception would be for Veterans receiving VA financing who have received credits while in the military or other training or course work. These credits to be transferred will be evaluated by the Supervisor of the Adult Education Program, or his appointee,
based on the course in which the Veteran is enrolled. The credits will be transferred, whole or in part, if they match the requirements of the program/course in which the Veteran is enrolled with a pro-rated price rate. These credits to transfer must be presented to Supervisor of Adult Education fourteen (14) days prior to the start of the course. A determination of approval or denial of the transfer of credits will be submitted to the VA in a written report, including explanation for this determination.


Payment of Fees

Students must pay in full when signing up for a course or make at least a 25 percent
down payment on courses costing $200 or more to reserve a spot in the class. Registration and down
payment must be received 10 days prior to the course start date. Maplewood accepts cash, check, money
order, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Students may pay online, in person, over the phone or by mail.
Companies/Agencies must make a payment ten days prior to the course start date if paying for a student as
a Third Party.


Deadlines and Late Registration

The deadline to register and pay for a course is 10 days prior to the
course start date. Late registration is only available for some courses, so please contact the Career Center
for more information.


Withdrawal Policy

If a student withdrawals or fails to attend a course, a deposit fee of $25 to $40
will be charged based on the overall cost of the course. Should a course be cancelled due to lack of
participation or because of school necessity, a full refund will be issued or a course credit may be
applied based on the course availability later on in the year.



Senior Citizens

People 60 years of age or older qualify for a 10 percent discount on all courses (Max $200).
A copy of ID is required at time of registration to receive this discount.


Cancellation of classes

The Adult Workforce Development of MCC reserves the right to cancel, postpone,
discontinue or combine classes before or during classes. Classes must be cancelled if they do not meet
a required minimum enrollment, which is different for each course. If a class is cancelled for any of the
above reasons, the student will receive a full refund. Attempts are made to contact students about class
cancellations. To avoid class cancellations, please register at least 10 days before the start date of the
course. Note: the refund policy for some courses is different than all other courses. Please refer to the
student handbook for the policy.


Class Confirmation

You may assume that your class will be held unless you are notified that it has been
