My dental career began in Rockville, Maryland where I had relocated soon after graduating from North High school, in Akron, Ohio.

My dentist at that time, Dr. Harold Sinrod, an endodontist, offered me an opportunity to become his chair side assistant. Dr. Sinrod paid for me to attend Montgomery College, in Rockville, Md. Attending classes in the evening and working chair side with Dr. Sinrod during the day enabled me to develop my skills rapidly. I remained employed by Dr. Sinrod for six years, then decided to return to the Akron area.

In 1976, I was offered the opportunity to develop a Dental Assisting program for Akron Institute, a private vocational school located in the city of Akron, which is now known as Herzing College. I implemented the dental program I had developed for them and was employed at Akron Institute for the next twenty-two years.

Wanting to further my education, I enrolled at Case Western Reserve University to work towards my license as an Expanded Dental Auxiliary. I worked for a short time as an EFDA before deciding to try a career change to the field of dental sales. After two years in the sales field, working at Coltene/Waldent Company, I realized that education was my real passion. I worked for a short time teaching Dental Assisting at the National Institute of Technology.

In 2008, I designed the Dental Assisting program at the high school level for Maplewood Career Center. I had the privilege of teaching at Maplewood from 2008 to 2015.

In September of 2016, I started the first adult education Dental Assisting program at Maplewood.
