Medical Assisting Lab Hosts Successful Blood Drive

Medical Assisting students organized the blood drive from start to finish.

Each Medical Assisting student had a job to perform. These jobs include: Check-In (Checking in the donors as they arrive), Blood Pressure (taking donors’ BP prior to donating), hand holders (comforting individuals during the blood drawing process), Canteen (ensuring all the donors eat and drink something before returning to class).

November 26th: 51 individuals presented to donate. 35 units of lifesaving blood were collected.

November 27th: 46 individuals presented to donate.  38 units of lifesaving blood were collected.

Up to 219 lives will be sustained or saved due to these generous gifts.

Thank you to Mrs. Rutledge, Maplewood Medical Assisting students, Vitalant, and everyone who donated blood during the two day blood drive event.
