JOB TITLE: UTILITY WORKER
DEPARTMENT: SERVICE-STREETS
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: SERVICE DIRECTOR
STATUS: FULL-TIME, CLASSIFIED, NON-EXEMPT, BARGAINING
COMPENSATION: Step 1 $22.66/hr. _ Step 5 $28.40
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Performs physical tasks related to road repair and maintenance, storm sewer maintenance and landscaping
using various vehicles, tools and specialized equipment.
 Performs chuckhole patching, crack sealing, chip and seal, and traffic control flagging.
 Operates motor vehicles related to work duties, including the safe operation of medium to heavy dump trucks,
with and without trailers, and light to heavy equipment.
 Operates specialized equipment including street sweeper, durapatcher, crack/pavement sealer, dump trucks,
front-end loaders, backhoes, trackhoes, and skid steers.
 Plows snow throughout City streets.
 Safely hauls material and equipment to and from construction or project sites.
 Performs storm sewer maintenance including cleaning, repair and rebuilding catch basins and gutters, and ditch
maintenance.
 Builds forms and pours concrete to install or repair sidewalks and footers.
 Installs and repairs traffic control signs.
 Uses hand tools and pneumatic and electric power tools, including the safe operation of saws, drills, hammers,
rakes, shovels, ladders, scaffolds, etc.
 Performs various landscaping and construction projects.
 Performs miscellaneous carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, and masonry tasks to complete assignments.
 Must be available 24 hours per day/seven days per week for emergencies and/or maintenance operations.
 Maintain excellent levels of customer service.
 Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
 High School diploma or general education degree (GED), and three (3) to twelve (12) months related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, repair
manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively speak read and understand
English language. Ability to frequently lift and carry over 50 lbs.
 Commercial Driver’s License Class A CDL required and valid license required throughout employment.
 Must be eligible to work in the United States
